Who We Are
Barry Lovelace, Louise Menlo and Dave Lovelace are on a mission to help people find their passion and purpose in life and to help firms create an environment that results in personal and corporate success. To that end they founded Compass Settings, Ltd. over five years ago and used it as a vehicle to create and market the FastLook and About U Reports.
They still continue to refine and improve on these Reports based upon their work with, and feedback from, countless clients across the country. The Reports are a continuous "work in progress."
Much of the insights they have gained about the usefulness and application of the two reports comes from their work with clients: individuals seeking clarification on their values and career aspirations and firms engaged in improving employee and customer satisfaction. And while much of their effort involves managing the firm, they still devote a considerable amount of time working with individual and corporate clients.

They bring to their endeavor a richly diverse background collectively encompassing more than a century of experience. Barry's background is in public sector management and leadership as well as public/private consulting. He worked in policy analysis and executive management for five governors in three different states. He led the research efforts at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and the University of Texas, and was an adjunct faculty member. And he has authored numerous articles ranging from water policy to regional planning to traffic crash data systems. He has served on the board of numerous nonprofit organizations. He is a certified Master Gardner and co-authored a book on gardening for his native Central Texas area.
Louise's background involves business consulting, management and educational administration. Her doctorate work focused on the structure and form of the consulting process. She was Director and Chair of a Program in Speech Language and Hearing as well as an assistant superintendent and superintendent of school districts in Texas. She has served on the faculty at the University of Texas working in the Program for School Superintendents. She has worked and continues to work with small businesses in leadership development. She has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations. In addition, she has a business in jewelry design and fabrication and won 2nd place in the PRIX JACQUES GAUTIER, 1989 Contemporary Jewelry Competition, Paris, France.
Dave's experience has been in sales, starting when he was ten years old. Dave served in the Marine Corps and upon graduating college he began worked primarily in the banking industry as a salesman, bank executive, sales manager, regional Vice President of a Fortune 500 firm and as a national account manager. He also has served on nonprofit boards. He is active in community theater and has the typical love/hate relationship with golf.
